A red background for your website is a surefire way to capture someone’s attention. Red is an intensely powerful color. It is one of the most symbolic colors in human history, used to stand for love, passion, Cupid, and the event he Devil. It even has a physical effect on people, raising their blood pressure and their respiration rates. Red even has the effect of slightly enhancing the human metabolism. Red is frequently associated with feelings of anger but is also associated with a sense of importance, such as when it is used for the well-known red carpet at awards shows and other celebrity events. Red is also used to signal danger, which is the reason why stop signs, stop lights are red. It is often used for warning labels for the same reason. Red is a very powerful color to use in design. It can easily overwhelm if not used correctly and in the right amount, especially in its purest form. Use it to portray power or passion. However, a red background can be much more versatile than you think. Brighter reds are highly energetic, while darker shades of red are more elegant and powerful. Red background texturesRed HotRed is not just a warm color. It is a hot color. It is very strong and hard not to notice wherever and however it is used in a design. It instantly grabs viewers’ attention to whatever it is used to highlight. It instantly brings heat and energy to a web page. Red is a highly emotional color. It can be used to convey a wide array of feelings, including love, hate, anger, and just about everything in between. Because of this wide array of emotional connotations, the color red used by many activist groups and charities as a part of their color scheme. Red can also be used to display pride and strength, which is why it is commonly found on flags, team uniforms, and sports cars. It is a bit stronger than orange, another warm color, and is a better option if you need something with a bit more kick to it. Be careful not to use too much red and be cautious about which shade of red you use for your red background. Red has been sued in the media and around the world in many cultures as a sign of danger to signal to stop. This can turn away many viewers. Too much red acts like a wall that viewers run into right as they enter your site. It can be too harsh and not worth dealing with. If you choose to use a completely red background and fill up their site with red, you need to do so carefully. Use light contrast and clearly legible text. A bright orange-red background with white text can be a bit too much for the eyes. A darker red can be easier to look at. Red is a highly motivated, energetic, and nervous color. It makes people hungry and even raises their blood pressure. It begs for attention with hardly any effort at all. Deep reds, like maroon, indicate royalty or rage. It is very sued for sending a strong message or conveying a strong personality. Red can also be used to communicate war or danger. Red is not a color you use to communicate gentle, wishy-washy emotions. It is a very, very strong color. Where and How to Use RedYou can use red in every last element of your web design as long as you do so wisely. Use red in a way that triggers a visitor’s curiosity and pulls their attention to where it best serves the site’s purpose. Red can be used to highlights the site’s logo, or pull attention to a particular image, or make your call to action stand out. A red background in just the right shade can set the right emotional tone for the whole site. Red’s versatility and the way it combines with other colors mean you can use it in many different ways, but you should always think it out first. Avoid using red for energy, finance, and airlines, since it tends to send the wrong signals in those fields. Using Red in Web DesignRed, as you can see, can be used to communicate a number of different tones, meanings, and moods. It is most likely to communicate the emotions associated with a particular shade that you use in a specific interface. Bright red grabs viewers’ attention right away and is often used for CTA buttons. When you use it in a clean and minimalist interface, red conveys a very modern and professional feel. A customer experience agency called RED uses the color for the logo, as you might guess, as well as their navigation elements, icons, brand names, and headlines, which are placed on neutral, fair-hued background with a lot of whitespace around them. Using Red With Other Colors in Web DesignThe meaning of a red background will change a bit when used with other colors. Mix red with green and yellow for food-related projects, similar to the McDonald’s logo and branding campaign. Red and green are often used for a holiday feeling, while red and white are more clinical. Red and black can be ominous, while red and gray is quite professional. Using Red in InfographicsRed is very useful for drawing attention to a specific area on an infographic that you want viewers to pay attention to. Bright reds will draw the eye of impulse buyers, while softer reds work better on more traditional shoppers with a budget. Remember, red works to grab attention, so use it to make sure people see what you want on an infographic. Ending thoughts on using a red backgroundA red background can communicate many things to visitors to a website, all of them very strong and intense. Red can be a hard color to master, but if you take the time to understand how to best use the color, it can help you out a lot! Now that the Force Awakened, there are great-looking Star Wars Posters everywhere you turn. And yet – how many of them remind you of classic Sci-Fi novels? Both the old and the new Star Wars posters look amazing, and will fit perfectly the space above your Sci-Fi bookshelf. Let’s begin with the Star Wars original trilogy movie posters. Tom Jung designed the very first of all Star Wars posters. These are the best Start Wars Posters you should considerThe designer has a significant experience behind him – before this masterpiece, he was an art director at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where he created many roadshow movie posters such as the ones for Dr. Zhivago. Lucasfilms Ltd hired him in 1977 to create a movie poster for ‘Good over Evil’ – the most impressive part of this ‘space opera’ poster is the unintentionally made cross by Luke and Vader’s lightsaber. Next to his Star Wars art poster, you will also adore the small logo that mimics the crawling opening narration of this film. Empire Strikes Back by Roger KastelHere’s a beautiful and old Star Wars poster. Book illustrator Roger Kastel made this incredibly theatrical Empire Strikes Back poster. The famous Star Wars posters artist is also the illustrator of Bantam Books’ Jaws cover, a work of art that was later used for the same movie adaptation. The original Jaws poster he created is missing at the moment. Kastel’s motivation for creating such an amazing Empire Strikes Back poster was Gone With The Wind – he recreated the epic hug for Princess Leia and Han Solo, and also added Luke riding his tauntaun. Star Wars in Hungary by Tibor HelényiThis is probably the most beautiful Hungarian Star Wars poster. Hungary got to see Star Wars only in 1980, even if the movie was released in the US three years before that. Hungarian artist Tibor Helenyi created his own poster version of the saga using striking blues, reds, and oranges; and a number of unique features fans wouldn’t really classify as ‘canon’. For instance, there’s the mouth on Darth Vader’s helmet (that’s originally not there), and it looks like a vintage Cadillac grill. On the left side, we can also see a scaly, alien-looking lizard with a flailing tongue, and a strong blast that destroys the Death Star. As you remember, no such creatures were present in the Star Wars movie, but Helenyi had something else in mind – he showed us that aliens could blend just fine within the world Lucas created. In a way, he added value to the original poster. Another theory that explains these creatures is that Lucas’ original idea of Han Solo was a lizard, but he yet took a more conventional route picking Harrison Ford to play it as a human.Call it ‘added value’! Or perhaps it’s a reference to how Lucas originally envisioned Han Solo as a lizard creature, before going the more conventional route of casting Harrison Ford to play the character as a human. Empire Strikes Back… in Poland! By Miroslaw LakomskiWe also recommend this unique Star Wars vintage poster. Polish artist Lakomski’s approach to the movie was more direct and conventional. He used vivid color circles that recall Saul Bass and Piet Mondrian, and created an Empire Strikes Back poster with the iconic Yoda and AT-AT walkers. Yet, if you take a closer look at Yoda you will see that he rendered most facial features in black and white. He also added an off-centered gaze into the horizon, and a neutral expression. If you’re into poster art, you will notice immediately what Lakomski was after – his idea was to recreate Jim Fitzpatrick’s 1968 Che Guevara poster, and he did that pretty successfully. At the same time, he didn’t deviate much from the classic poses of this heroic sage. Basically, you can either treat this poster as a faithful-to-the-original work of art, or pick up the secret message calling for new rebellion. According to many critics, the Polish artist brought the American film figure and hero of the global socialist revolution together to suggest aligning with US’s capitalist culture. Empire Strikes Back…in Hungary By Tibor HelényiHere’s another great work of Tibor Helényi – an Empire Strikes Back poster where, as you can notice, there are no alien-like lizards. The artists confirmed once again that foreign Star Wars posters deserve just as much attention as the original, US-made ones. What Helenyi offers us this time is a confrontation between the Imperial Star Destroyer and Vader, and we can immediately notice how incredibly detailed and stylish they both are. This is also another of the artist’s famous attempts to sneak-peak into the future of the sage – Alongside Vader, there is an army of mechanized and brave henchmen, which envisioned at the time how the Knights of Ren should look. Pretty cool, isn’t it? The diagonal and very dynamic composition was completed with Goth AT-AT’s sudden lurching within the frame, which was a clear attempt to classify it as an unstoppable force. Doing so, Helenyi once again anticipated an important development – Cam Kennedy’s aesthetic brooding in the 1993 Dark Empire graphic, where the author predicted Emperor Palpatine’s resurrection and Luke’s interest in the Jedi. Return of the Jedi – Hungary by Tibor HelényiOkay, including weird lizard creatures that don’t actually appear in the movie was not Helenyi’s best choice for this poster, but you must admit he did an amazing work forming one of Vader’s eyes with the second Death Star form. Helényi’s contribution to poster art is simply unique, and thereof worth the interest of anyone exploring graphic design works. You can also check his Ben Hur poster where he used Dali’s Hallucinogenic Toreador to depict Christ’s crucifixion and the epic chariot race. Another of his much appreciated works is the Kagemusha poster, where he replaced feudal Japan with jousters from medieval Europe. Star Wars Fever by Lynx ArtNowadays, the Star Wars fever is more present than ever, and it is not too late to become a fan. A relatively new and very high-quality Star Wars landscape poster you can consider is this action scene of Luke and Yoda created by Lynx Art. The masterpiece depicts the memorable Dagobah scene between Luke and Yoda, perhaps the best moment in the sage so far. A Long Time Ago by Tom JungTom Jung’s career took a different path in 1977, as he joined the marketing community to work on the creation of promotional materials. His new assignment was ‘Good vs. Evil’, and he handled it right up to his standards. While we can’t disapprove the quality of his work, we can argue it resembles Frank Conan’s Star Wars posters, and that’s mainly because of the strong presence of fantasy art. Obviously, Jung used a different space element, but the spirit remained the same. Introductory Background to Star Wars by Tom JungWhat a great black and white Star Wars poster to have at home! We’re transferred to year 3000, and we’ve already met all alien kinds in the universe. A single force is controlling the billions of suns and planets, and that’s really awesome to see! This poster is both an artistic masterpiece of Star Wars retro art, and an excellent work of marketing. It aims to explain this unique genre mash-up to audiences of all generations. Star Wars with Light by The Brothers HildebrandtLet us introduce this very cool Star Wars poster! Brothers Hildebrandt created a very similar poster to the one of Jung, and that was because Lucasfilms didn’t approve how dark it was. The brothers were given a seemingly impossible task – to create a more pleasant version within only 36 hours! The Boss Poster by Tom ChantrellHere comes the Boss poster. The task was handled by Tom Chantrell, and he was asked to address the issue of featuring generic characters. OK, maybe not effectively generic! The bottom line was to present the actors behind the roles, as once people met their heroes there was nothing that could remind them of the sage as well as they did. Our opinion is that anonymous characters would sell the movie just as well – before it hit our screens, Star Wars was a concept and a comic book, and there’s nothing bad with remembering that. Struzan’s Intro by Drew Struzan and Charles White IIIWith this extended release poster Struzan was first introduced to Star Wars marketing. It was used to announce the temporary re-release of Star Wars on 15 August 1979. We could see it again in April 1981 and in August 1982, which led to a surprisingly strong theater presence. In fact, this was the reason why so many great artists started working on marketing posters for Star Wars. Tom Jung’s version of The Empire Strikes BackTom Jung got another task – to prepare an Empire Strikes Back poster together with Roger Kastel. As you can see above, it was a very good decision. Return of The Jedi by Josh KirbyDespite of Jung’s and Kastel’s amazing work, Lucasfilms decided on a completely different turn of events for Return of the Jedi. This time, they hired Josh Kirby, the illustrator who designed the cover for Pratchett’s Discworld book. If we go deeper inside the list of all-time Star Wars illustrators, we will find many popular and extremely talented artists. Revenge of The Jedi by Drew StruzanHere’s another amazing and extended-release work of Struzan and Charles White III. You may or may not recognize Charles White III, but his contribution to the illustration world is just unparalleled – the guy created the posters for Harry Potter, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Big Trouble in Little Chine, Goonies, Hook, and many other iconic movies. At the same time, his unique two-color approach to designing Star Wars posters made him one of the best artists to ever work on the sage. Concept Art Drew StruzanHow did this amazing piece come to be? How did they even get there? What’s on their minds? Indeed, everybody likes concept art sketches. The Special Editions by Drew StruzanWe are proud to present you the Special Editions! These amazing and contentious posters remind us of what Star Wars is all about – anger leading to hate, hate leading to fear, and fear leading to the dark side! At the same time, their artistic value is amazing. Each of these posters uses a well defined color palette. They’re solid and bold, and can be observed completely independent from each other, or as a meaningful unit. On a single piece of paper, they bring together all key characteristics of this movie, and that makes them irreplaceable. You can consider getting each of these posters individually, or arranging them in a different way. As they’re positioned now, however, they’re balancing the light and the dark side with perfect coloring; and the line up on the middle posters really seems to be exploding. Pretty fantastic, if you ask us! Original and creative posters by Drew StruzanStruzan worked with Lucasfilms for quite a while, and produced the posters of Episodes I, II, and III. Perhaps the most memorable among them is this poster for Phantom Menace, where you can see the eyes of Darth Maul on top of the piece. This accentuates in the best possible way his meaning for this movie. Struzan remained faithful to his style even for episodes II and III – we can see the balance of force clearly depicted with opposing colors (teal and orange) . Episode II Sketchwork by Drew StruzanWhen creating a poster for this amazing saga, an artist must (more than anything else) highlight the importance of the main characters. This sketch composition by Drew Struzan does it amazingly well. The Force Awakens by Bryan MortonDespite of the very successful theatrical posters for The Force Awakens, Struzan decided to stay true to his role, and fans were ultimately frustrated by it. Pretty much the same dissatisfaction was caused by the poster above (Bryan Morton). And yet, that doesn’t change the fact that art is subjective, and some of us do like the visual cues on heroes and villains we are about to see. At the same time, the colors on this poster are lovely, and may as well be the best palette to ever be applied on a Star Wars poster. Plus, if you take a closer look on this poster you will see that Morton kept many of the Star Wars traditions alive. His colors are opposing, and his images depict the heroes in a very realistic way. You can also see the droids, the light sabers, the space battles, and, of course, the Death Star! Best of all, this poster is not as dark as most Star Wars works tend to be. Here’s another hint Morton provided, and which you may not be aware of – Rey and Finn stand on different sides of the poster? Does that reveal their fate in Episode VIII? May be! Rogue OneThis poster can be considered a breakthrough in Star Wars art, as it only adopts some of the trends typical for the sage. It shifted tones so that the palette won’t be diametrically opposed, but it kept Vader’s and Death Star’s superimposed faces and the looming. Fan-made Star Wars posters

The post CSS tabs: Snippets that you can use in your website’s code appeared first on Design your way. from https://www.designyourway.net/blog/css-html/css-tabs/ One of the most celebrated cinema couples – DC and Warner Bros – brought to our attention the most amazing comic book-based animation movies ever. They mastered the skill of bringing superhero adventures to life, and they’re continuing to provide the best entertainment for all audiences. DC animated movies are so good that they have a lot of cinematic adaptations. Yet, unlike the surreal and expanded universes of Marvel Studios, DC’s straight-to-video animations celebrate the actual heroes as they were presented by their comic books. In short, DC animated movies are not Sci-Fi mash-ups, but they tell the standalone story just as it is. That’s why they’re worth to watch. Ready for some good DC animated movies? Here is our list of the best DC animation movies you should watch: Superman/Shazam: The Return Of Black AdamShazam, for instance, is a neglected DC character. This is the superhero alter ego of a boy named Billy Watson. Billy becomes Shazam each time he says his name, all before he meets a wizard that can change his life forever. The mortal enemy of our hero is Black Adam. He returns from the past to haunt and kill Billy before he obtains his Shazam powers, and Billy has to fight him over and over again. Producers made the smart move of introducing Superman to the audience – Clark interviews Billy, and then fights next to him and helps him defeat Black Adam. The movie targets young dreamers who wish to have Billy’s magical powers and to feel better accepted. Justice League: The New FrontierAlthough DC Comics began entertaining us in the early 1930s, Justice League animated movies appeared only in 1960. The masterpiece The New Frontier treats a post-WWII tale where all leading heroes join strengths to defeat the evil about to destroy Earth. Many of today’s favorite DC heroes were actually introduced with New Frontier, and so was the concept of godly creatures working hand-by-hand with strong humans for a good cause. Green Lantern: First FlightThe reason why we all love DC animated movies (or their comic books) is the inherent weirdness of their characters, or maybe how that weirdness is fully embraced. Green Lantern is a good example of such animated DC movies – a unique comic figure in the role of a space cop Hal Jordan who owns a magic green ring that makes his wishes come true. And yet, Green Lantern Jordan shoots laser blasts and decides to travel through space. Meanwhile, he discovers and confronts a dangerous conspiracy within the Green Lantern Corps. The only weakness of Green Lanterns is the color yellow. Superman/Batman: Public EnemiesWe all appreciate a good Batman-Superman story, as these are our two most beloved animation heroes. Superman would only entrust his Kryptonite bullet to Batman, as he’s the only person that’d actually use it if Superman loses control. In the Public Enemies movie, the two heroes join forces to deal with a government conspiracy – Superman was framed for murder by President Luthor, and Batman is the only hero from the crowd that helps him solve this problem. Who could be a more serious enemy than the head of the state? The ultimate fight will cause Superman and Batman to face their other superhero friends, and to do the impossible to clean their names. With plenty of thrilling moments and explosive action, this movie guarantees some serious fun! All-Star SupermanAll-Star Superman was produced by Grant Morrison, and belongs to the category of finest comics ever. All along, we were made to believe that the only thing that can destroy Superman is Kryptonite (basically, Superman was indestructible to us!), but Grant Morison changed it all with his unconventional All-Star Superman. We were shocked at the very beginning of the movie – Superman got overdosed with solar radiation, and we got to watch the last year of his life. Yet, the protagonist remained hopeful and optimistic, and we enjoyed that together with the producer’s artistic mastery. As expected, Superman did the best he could to help people in different ways, as he knew he wasn’t going to be around for long. Batman: Under the Red HoodWe’re all haunted by a mistake from the past, and Batman is no exception. In his case, he regrets not being able to prevent Jason Todd’s death, his beloved second Robin who fell into Joker’s hands. The question that confuses us here is – What prevents Batman from killing the Joker? The Joker doesn’t stay in Arkham for long, and each time he gets out he causes destructions and death. Batman, however, doesn’t want to take this road – he is afraid that if he kills the Joker, he won’t stop killing. This is without a doubt one of the best DC animated movies, and a remarkable Batman story. The crime drama takes multiple hard-boiled and mystical turns, and takes our breath away ‘til the very end. Justice League: Crisis on Two EarthsIn Crisis on Two Earths, DC animation films discussed multiverse for the very first time. Causal viewers were all head over heels, experienced what’d happen if all Justice League heroes had evil counterparts trying to destroy Earth. Bad, nonetheless, is not the only answer to this question. Batman’s doppelganger is Owl-Man (James Wood), and his character is simply brought to perfection in this movie. The fight is intense until the very end, making us wonder who could possibly win this battle. Wonder WomanThis animated movie doesn’t only tell us who Wonder Woman is, but also explains many of the things that happened before and after she got this title. It explains in a very masterful way what enigmatic origin actually means, and makes us like Princess Diana with or without her wonder woman features. As Princess Diana ventured the male world, she was still a naive and well-tempered lady. Yet, she had just enough skills to turn into layered hero Wonder Woman, an exciting storyline with top-notch pacing that kept us motionless in front of our screens. For a superhero tale, Wonder Woman has a pretty realistic and faithful origin development, and treats an evergreen topic – justice. Justice League: WarHere’s one of the newest additions of the Justice League saga – the readapted 52 story of Justice League: Origin. Here, we can enjoy a completely reinvented and DC-untypical universe set and the New 52 canon’s confines. We may like or dislike the characters in New 52, but that doesn’t make War any less compelling, fun, or visually spectacular. It is still amazing to see how superheroes team up as one wouldn’t expect them to, as when Batman and Green Lantern or Superman and Wonder Woman learn to work together. Justice League DarkAt a certain point, DC animated movies decided to explore the mystical side of their Universe, and the decision was a total success! They introduced us to Swamp Thing, John Constantine, Zatanna, Etrigan, and Deadman – the dark heroes that hallucinate of demons and kill each other. Batman is once again supposed to take the lead – he looks for John Constantine, the master of these mystical arts, and asks for his help. In Justice League Dark, we have the unique opportunity to enjoy superhero action blended with horror, and produced with the animation finesse only DC Films can provide. Better yet, it showed us that every comic book we love can easily become a dark tale – it only takes some imagination! Teen Titans: The Judas ContractTeen Titans also got their own animated movie to tell the story of their superhero team. The Judas Contract updates this storyline in a modern way, introducing the betrayal of their favorite fan. You may discover differences between the cartoon continuity and the comic book, but the story will still impress you – the Teen Titans have become more mature, and producers have discovered the right dark sides of their story to create this movie. Superman vs The EliteThis time, Superman fights vigilantes who kill and injure villains with their powers. The subplot takes place in two imaginary enemy countries, and Superman tries really hard to stop this never-ending war. Consequently, the Elite go after the leaders of these countries to stop the senseless violence – it may sound a bit nutty, but so does the imprisonment of super-power villains who can get out without any problem. As Man of Steel cuts loose, the Elite discover that Superman is not willing to hurt people, and that’s what is holding him back. For the audience, this is a fact writers of such stories often leave aside – Superman is not only a superhero, but also a lovely human being. Teen Titans Vs. Justice LeagueBeing a sidekick in a DC animation movie is not the best role you can have, as it is in the case of Robin and Batman. And yet, sidekicks manage to earn the acknowledgment and respect of Earth’s most powerful being, as they prove to be able to oppose any force. This theory is first tested in Teen Titans vs. Justice League, where leaders don’t have their weapons anymore, and can only rely on their protégés to save the world. The movie has a lot of similarities with the Judas Contract, and you should watch both of them to feel the full impact. Son of BatmanGrant Morrison’s latest creation Damian Wayne has raised many controversial comic book debates ever since it joined the DC animated universe – some of us can’t understand how Batman’s sons don’t have his maturity and ability to do better than him, while others simply enjoy watching Bruce in a role of a caring father with a hidden identity. Along the way, Bruce deals with serious fatherhood challenges such as teaching his sons not to kill criminals, which is a unique screen transition from Batman’s well-known past to his intriguing future. The movie has three parts, and all of them feature animal-human hybrids that add up interest to the story. Batman vs. RobinFor those who didn’t watch it, Batman vs. Robin is kind of a sequel to the Sons of Batman trilogy – we don’t get to watch Nightwing dealing with his family heritage, but we still deal with Damian Wayne who continues killing because he was raised by the League of Assassins. It is disputable whether DC needed another movie on this story, and it is actually very good that the villains take over: Watching them challenging Batman over the fate of Damian’s soul is one of the best DC animation moments ever! Batman: Assault on ArkhamEven though Batman has been mentioned in the title, this is not a Batman movie. The Dark Knight opens up the setting, but he has only a supportive role. The throne this time belongs to the Suicide Squad – a group of brave villains on a suicide mission. Amanda Waller sent our favorite characters Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, King Shark, KG Beast, Black Spider, and Killer Frost on duty in Arkham Asylum, where they’re supposed to fool Riddler into providing them information. As long as they manage to defeat Batman! Superman/Batman: ApocalypseHere’s another misleading title: Superman and Batman won’t be working together this time, and they’re both in the shadow of a new character and Clark’s cousin Super Girl. As Kara Zor-El arrives on Earth, she tries to settle in and to control her amazing powers. Clark shows her around, and suggest she should live among Amazons to gain self-control. And it’d all be fine, if it wasn’t for Darkside to kidnap Super Girl and to try to misuse her powers. The movie guarantees an exhilarating plot and exciting action, but the original comic art (Michael Turner) is often considered too sexual for the story behind it. Justice League: DoomWe are all familiar with Batman’s trust issues, in particular the discrimination against people with unusual powers. This explains why he always had a contingency plan to use the Justice League’s powers nefariously, in case the cohort went rogue. Doom teaches us to expect the unexpected, and takes us on an action-packed journey which also showcases sorrow and regrets. We empathize with Batman as his loved ones are in danger, and that danger is actually caused by his own mean plans. The movie also brings us the classic villains such as mastermind Vandal Savage, but also his less-known fellows Star Saphire, Bane, and Metallo. All things together, there’s little chance you won’t enjoy this faced-paced and stellar thriller. The recipe of success has all the right ingredients: a compelling and riveting storyline, well-executed and crisp-clear animation, and the best possible voice performance. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Vol 1 & 2For those who think the opposite, there is only one The Dark Knight Returns animated movie. What the title here tells us is that the story has two parts, and these parts are brought together on screen for the first time. Regardless of it, we must agree that this is DC’s best attempt so far to stay true to the Dark Knight story, and to adapt it to viewers’ expectations. The Dark Knight here is older and about to retire, but before he does, he meets his cruelest enemies – the Mutants. The struggle is obvious – Batman is no longer physically fit for the task, and he needs to train a whole new Robin to help him (Carrie Kelly). To the pleasure of viewers, however, Mutants and gangsters end up regretting messing with Batman, just the way we, faithful fans, would like it to be. All in all, this movie confirmed that Batman is still a symbol of power, and no one can take this from him! Batman: Year OneWhile watching this movie, one may even think it does not belong to the DC animation series. Unlike all action-packed Batman pieces we got used to, Year One offers a slow-paced and grounded development of events, just the way Frank Miller described it. The screenwriter answered the most intriguing question of the Batman fans’ community – How did Batman come to be? How was it possible for an orphaned trust fund boy to turn into the Dark Knight? Year One follows Bruce’s growing up in corrupt and vicious Gotham, and the situations that inspired him to pursue justice at all costs. At the time, Bruce had few encounters with criminals already, and decided to wear a mask in order to intimidate them. Year One also introduces us to another important character in the story – Lieutenant Gordon who’d just moved to the city and is terrified by what’s going on there. He needs to stand against his entire police department, the mobsters, and the Catwoman how’s jealous of him. Justice League: Throne of AtlantisThrone of Atlantis deals mainly with Aquaman’s origin, a neglected character in the superhero community who talks to fish, and is often mocked because of it. What the Justice League fails to realize is that Aquaman can control the oceans, or what forms in fact 70% of the Earth. Throne of Atlantis explains to us where he comes from, and how he becomes a respected member of the Justice League. Superman: DoomsdayWhen LexCorps accidentally unleash a murderous creature, Doomsday, Superman meets his greatest challenge as a champion. Based on the “The Death of Superman” storyline that appeared in DC Comics’ publications in the 1990s. Justice League: The Flashpoint ParadoxIf you’re a Flash fan too, you must agree it felt good to see your favorite hero headlining a movie of his one. Flashpoint Paradox is perhaps the darkest DC animation film ever, so creepy that even Scarlet Speedster’s charm can’t shine through. The storyline is very involving: Barry Allen travels through time to prevent his mother’s death, but his attempt results in destroying the DC Universe as we knew it ‘til now. This means that Bruce Wayne will be murdered in front of his father, and that he’ll never become Batman. The Flash won’t get his powers, and the rest of the superhero crew will absolutely transform the Earth. Wonder Woman, for instance, conquers Great Brittan, while Aquaman drowns most of the old continent. Meanwhile, the US government imprisons Superman forever, and the Justice League simply doesn’t exist. Even if you watch this movie for the 10th time, you’ll still spot changes you missed before. What a visual delight! BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHTGotham by Gaslight came to a very important conclusion: As old and explored Batman’s story could seem, there is always a way to shed new light over it! If you’re into new animated movies, you shouldn’t miss this masterpiece. This time, we’ll be traveling to Victorian Gotham, and our enemy will be infamous serial killer Jack the Ripper. To stop the terrors he’s causing, Bruce Wayne goes undercover in the unprivileged part of Gotham, and behaves in a way we never really expected. Of course, the movie doesn’t deprive us of our favorite Dark Knight features, but the new package he comes in is truly fascinating. Regardless of the conditions, Batman blends easily into this exciting world, and we can’t wait to see how Gotham will be recreated in the future! Suicide Squad: Hell To PaySince we’re talking of new DC animated movies, we shouldn’t miss Suicide Squad – the piece that never stopped fascinating us. The thin line between these powered creatures saving people or taking over the world creates a superb tension, both for other DC heroes and for the audience. Hell to Pay has another great squad mission to present us – Amanda Waller’s last chance to save her soul by obtaining a ‘getting out of hell’ card. The turn of events will leave you speechless! Batman: Gotham KnightHere comes another highly unusual Batman animation. Gotham Knight contributed Christopher Nolan’s movies the same way Animatrix did with the Matrix trilogy. This time, the best Japanese directors and American writers joined forces to complete the story between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The result of their work are six amazing short movies that embrace Batman’s entire life and the mysteries around him. Batman: The Killing JokeThe Killing Joke is often referred to as the story that made Batman what he is today and perhaps one of the best animated Batman movies ever. It took multiple recreations in over 40 years to come up with a piece as marvelous as this – a brutal and controversial story where the Joker manages to prove that one bad day is enough for everyone to go crazy. Batman: Bad BloodBatman fans settled (somehow) for the Son of Batman and Batman vs. Robin movies, and for the idea of Batman not having the end he deserves. The third part of this story (Bad Blood), however, crossed the line. We’re not saying that nothing interesting takes place in this movie, but the turn of events is so fast that we can hardly keep track of it. We lose Bruce Wayne at the very beginning of the movie, and we don’t even get to mourn him in the 75 minutes of exhausting plots waiting for us. The best part of the top DC movie comes somewhere along the end – The Bat family fights together, and Damien finally takes over. This is also where we get to see Batwoman (Kate Kane) in an animation for the first time, and she looks exactly as we remember her from the original comics. Green Lantern: Emerald KnightsThe anthology sequence of Green Lanterns combines multiple short stories, and each of them treats a different Green Lantern Corps member. Since there was no way to create a story on every character, filmmakers focused on the favorite protagonists, and ensured fans will enjoy every minute of watching. Note – even if you watched all animated DC movies, you may find these stories confusing. Batman Beyond: Return Of The JokerWelcome to the story of the new Batman Terry McGinnis! This is also his first encounter with the atrocities inflicted upon Batman for more than 35 years, which results in this movie being too grim and dark for children to watch. Another big return is one of the Clown Prince of Crime (Mark Hamil), just as good as he used to be before. Batman: Mask Of The PhantasmLast but not least, there is the very best Batman movie: Mask of the Phantasm. In this DC animation film, you will find all Batman features that you like – the beautiful animations, the involving voices, and the origin story of Bruce Wayne presented in a whole new and fresh light. Odds are great this will be the best Batman performance you’ve ever seen! Ending thoughts on the best DC animated moviesWe hope that our list of best DC movies invoked some good memories of the time spent exploring the DC animated movie universe. We, the same as all fans of the best superhero cartoon movies are looking forward to enriching this collection, and we promise to keep you posted on upcoming DC animated movies! Meanwhile – have fun! The post The most popular DC animated movies to watch in a lifetime appeared first on Design your way. from https://www.designyourway.net/blog/inspiration/motion-graphics/dc-animated-movies/ Would you like to sell T-shirts online? Sure you would. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this. The best news is – your idea is great! To create and sell T-shirts online, you don’t need the skills of an experienced marketer or the exceptional talent of an artist. All you need is passion, creativity, and persistence. Now may be the right time to make your art public and sell shirts online. If willing to take your chances, you should think of the following things:
Once you know all these things, you will be ready to conquer the market with some unique T-shirts. How to sell shirts online? Well, it is actually pretty simple! Let us help: These are the best websites to design and sell T-shirts online. Tee SpringThe best way to sell T-shirts online is to design them on the very same platform. Tee Springs offers an uncomplicated web designer for those looking to create original T-shirts. You can either start from scratch, or upload your prototype design and complete it with their clip art. Better yet, you get to sell Tshirts online and earn some money! Sites like teespring ask you to organize a sales campaign, namely to point out its duration, and the price you wish to sell at. At that point, you will have a clear picture of how many T-shirts you wish to sell, and how much you’re about to earn. As your intermediate, the platform will process pre-orders to examine the interest in your product, and then manufacture, sell, and deliver T-shirts on your behalf. The customers will only be charged when you’ve reached your goal, and you will get to keep all the profits you’ve made. It sounds amazing, doesn’t it? The Tee Springs platform offers three options for its users:
The goal you have to reach is related to the price you’ve appointed. If you wish to sell T-shirts online for $12 with a goal set to 50 pieces, you’ll be getting $4.33 per shirt. In total, you’ll receive $229. Basically, the more you sell, the more you will be earning. Tee Springs doesn’t impose limitations on prices, but recommends retailers to keep the range between $15 and $20 per piece. It distributes payments exclusively via PayPal. ZazzleZazzle was not created as a crowdfunding project, but rather an online marketplace. This means that you can jump on selling T-shirts online as soon as you make an account, unlike Tee Springs where you needed to advertise T-shirts until you get enough orders. There are two types of accounts on Zazzle – designers and associates. If you’re an associate, your role is to promote products that are already there. You’d be earning 15% of each sale, plus bonuses for large volume sales. Selling as an associate means you promote products that are already for sale on Zazzle, doing so can earn you 15% per sale and bonuses depending on volume sold. If you love t-shirt design but hate the boring job of having to fulfill orders, complaints, returns, a website and so on then selling on Zazzle as a designer, could help. All you do is design things. After you’ve set the margin, you should pick a royalty rate between 5% and 99%. The platform helps you earn this in several ways, including increasing the price of your product. Basically, the retail price will comprise of the base price and the royalty percentage you’ve set. Yet, there are a number of other variables you should have in mind. For example, you can sell a simply designed T-shirt for $19.95, on the basis of which you can decide which the royalty rate will be. With a rate of 20%, for instance, the T-shirt will cost $23.95, and your profit will be $4.55 per piece (after they’ve deducted a 24 cent transaction fee). Note that the transaction fee only applies for royalty rates higher than 20%. Plus, T-shirts are not the only thing you can sell on Zazzle. People go there to buy pillows, office supplies, mugs, electronic accessories, and even jewelry! SpreadshirtSpreadshirt is an all-in-one website where you can design, promote, and sell your shirts (or accessories). Basically, it enables you to set up and run an online store, or share products on leading online marketplaces. The commissions depend entirely on you, which means that you get to keep the margin. Besides, selling is not the only way to earn money on Spreadshirt. You can also work as a designer and customize a number of products to be sold on the platform. Once again, you get to decide how much you will be paid. Let us explain to you how it works. You wish to sell a simple T-shirt and earn $14.20 for it, but if you do some design work ($4.50 per piece), you’ll get to sell it for $18.70. Here you’ll need to tack on the commission (according to your expectations), which should, as we recommend, be modest to keep your work competitive. The average commission would be $4.00, which will make the starting price go up to $22.70. In other words, you’ll profit of exactly $200. CafepressCafepress is another popular marketplace that offers several possibilities to earn money. To start with, you can create designs for T-shirts, posters, hoodies, mugs, and more; or set up a well-branded online store to sell a variety of products. Such a service will cost you between $5 and $10 per month, according to the package you’ve chosen. Cafepress also has a crowdfunded platform (Tfund) where people sell custom apparel pieces. The difference is that here you won’t have any upfront costs 9 you should only design your product, define your goals, and get the campaign running. TeePublicTeePublic is an online marketplace for creative designs that offers the advantage of not having to deal with printing or shipping issues. It focuses on sales more than it does on design, and it, therefore, targets mainly marketers and vendors with advertising experience. The disadvantage, however, is that you don’t get to set your own prices. The commissions there are either fixed, or dependent on the price you’ve chosen. Each product you upload there is promoted for 72 hours, and you get a royalty between $2 and $4 for each piece sold. More precisely, the royalty depends on the type of product you’re selling. Once these 72 hours have passed, it increases to $9 per piece. Designers will find this platform very attractive, as they only need to upload designs as PNG files, and without a background that could cause printing complications. The design should have a minimum of 150 DPI, dimensioned at 1500 x 1996 pixels. In this aspect, TeePublic is very beginner-friendly, as it offers a detailed guide on designing and printing methods. It will also advise you on the colors you should use (their graphics are displayed in hex codes), and show diagrams on the printing of your garment. After a while, you get the status of a Partner who can run its own store, and feature works from other participating artists. As it is in actual stores, you decide what to display and to sell. The commission for your designs is very generous (31%), while the one for existing designs is 11%. This is why this platform benefits both designers and merchants. To get your money, you will need a PayPal account. Red BubbleRedBubble is a global and very popular marketplace for creative designers. It has a very advanced design kit for preparing T-shirts, posters, device cases, vinyl stickers, and other products. In short, there is no prep work to be done, and you still get the most of your artistic skills at a price you’ve chosen. The average commission rate is 20%, which means you’re likely to earn $3 to $10 depending on what you’re selling. With a base price of $20 and a markup of 10% of the base rate, each T-shirt will bring you $2. This may not sound wonderful, but it makes perfect sense when you think that there are no upfront costs or monthly fees. Payments are made via PayPal, on monthly basis. ThreadlessYour only role at Threadless will be to create art, and they will take care of everything else. With their help, you can run an actual artistic shop to send your designs worldwide, and all you’ll be paying for is the manufacturing and shipping of the product. Deduct this base price, and add the profit margin, and you’ll get a clear overview of your future profits. If we supposed that a T-shirt on Threadless costs $15, and you’ve put a $10 markup, you’ll actually get to keep those $10 as profit. The production, shipping, and assistance will be handled entirely by Threadless, which btw doesn’t impose any sales goals you should reach. Design by HumansVisiting Design by Humans, customers can shop for a variety of products other than T-shirts. For instance, they can get a beautiful poster, phone case, or wall art. What they’re known for is simplicity. You can start selling as soon as you open your account, but only as long as you accept the membership in their DBH community. Yet, Design by Humans is among those marketplaces where you can’t set custom rates. Their commissions are fixed to $3 profit per T-shirt, but they’re dealing with all shipping issues. They will transfer you the money once in two months, normally on the first business day. PrintfulPrintful is design-exclusive, and that’s what makes it so popular. Thus, it doesn’t let you run a store, but asks you to connect a store from other marketplaces to display your T-shirts there instead. On the plus side, it is flawlessly integrated with Shopify, Bigcommerce, WooCommerce, Tictail, Big Cartel, and many similar providers. If you don’t own an online store, however, you can make new designs and sell them across the platform. Printful doesn’t charge for your designing work. It only charges for fulfillment, where it redacts the full price. If the shipping of a $40 product costs $20, for instance, you will earn $20. Note that the fulfillment costs also involve your own branding, packing, and delivery. Lastly, if you get tired of designing T-shirts, you can always switch to pillows, posters, cell phone cases, leggings, or other similar products. NeatoShopNeatoShop is a much-respected platform of this kind, and for a good reason. They feature only top-notch designs and unique pieces, and they will require you to prove your artistic history to sign up for an artistic account. As a result, you will only get there when they approve tour works. The other option you’ve got is to apply as an affiliate who will promote and sell. It turns out that NeatoShop is the most difficult T-shirt selling platform to get on, but it is totally worth the efforts. The royalties are not that different than the ones on other sites ($3 per shirt as regular profit; and $2 per shirt during sale periods). TostadoraTostadora specializes primarily in the European market, and you can use it to sell products in Spain, France, Italy, or the UK. Nonetheless, this doesn’t exclude the possibility to run a legitimate business in the UK. Why Tostadora? With it, you get to build an online shop free-of-cost, and sell art on multiple different products while setting your own rates. Most merchants choose to design T-shirts, tote bags, phone cases, and hoodies. As we mentioned before, there is no commission. The base price, however, is already decided on. Tostadora charges you the costs of fulfilling your orders. If you add a markup on the base price, you’ll see what you’ll be earning. As an example, a simple, yet designed T-shirt costs exactly $19.99. The price you’ve set for customers is #23.99. The profit for you is $4. The company pays quarterly. Their team assembles the commissions you’ve earned all along, and transfers them either to PayPal or to your local bank accounts. Amounts smaller than $10 will not be transferred. The TShirt MillT-Shirt Mill also lets you create and run an online shop. Their stores are fully equipped with shopping carts, user-friendly design templates, traffic analytics, and impeccable integration with social media and leading marketplaces. The usual way to go on T-Shirt Mill is to sell diverse products, but the platform awards 10% discount from the wholesale rates to those selling their own works. The prices are up to you, and income is delivered per sale/month, on PayPal accounts. SunFrogSunFrog reminds of TeeSpring in many ways, including the need to run a campaign before you start selling. Yet, it jumps on completing your orders as soon as you’ve made your first sale. With SunFrog, you can earn by creating and selling your own designs, or affiliating with other designers. If you sell, you get to choose the price, but you have to do so in the range between $19 and $35 per piece. The commission you can earn goes up to 65%, and the lowest payout possible is $50 (via wire transfers or PayPal). SunFrog lacks many of the upsides of Zazzle, TeeSprings, or Spreadshirt, as you can only design T-shirts and hoodies. SkreenedSkreened is a free-to-join site that lets you run an online store. You decide on the commission, but with a cap of $10 per piece. The site will also recommend you to sell at a price of $4. This is so because of their Marketplace Optimization Adjustment – if the commission is higher than $4, it will affect the amount you’re earning. Note that you can only get paid 60 days after the purchase, and that’s why many vendors and designers skip this platform. Print All Over MeThere are 3 membership plans to choose from: The PAOM Standard (free of charge), the PAOM Plus ($15 per month), and the PAOM Pro ($20/month with setup fees). The commission in the free plan is fixed to 20% per deal, but as you upgrade you can choose it yourself. Society 6Society 6 verifies its users before they start selling. There is a one-step process of confirming your identity on PayPal, and charging $1. On S6 you can pick prices for each of your prints, but not the final products to be sold. The price for T-shirts, pillows, and travel mugs is already fixed, and depends on the product. This means that a $6 deal brings you $2.4 royalty ($4.2 for hoodies). Print AuraWhat Print Aura does is to apply your design on multiple products and sell those to clients using your brand. Their offer range is wide, and covers T-shirts, mugs, aprons, phone cases, pillows, posters, and many other products. What Print Aura is often praised for is its integration with popular marketplaces, among which WooCommerce, Shopify, and Etsy, to name a few. You won’t have to pay a membership fee or to wait for your products to be approved – open an account, and you’re ready to go! InstaprintsWhat Instaprints does is to let you monetize the pictures you’ve posted on Instagram. All you have to do is to upload your designs on your account, and link them to the platform. Next thing you know, they’re actual physical prints people are wearing on their T-Shirts! These images could be sold for a variety of items, including T-shirts, pillows, and phone cases. The price is in your hands, as Instaprints only charges the materials it needs to actually produce these items. Speaking of, a print that costs $25 but requires $10 to make imposes a selling price of $35. This puts your earnings somewhere between $5 and $50 per piece. Payments are received via PayPal, and issued on the 15th of each month for all orders handled in their period. The shipping works are covered by Instaprint. Gear BubbleThe only thing Gear Bubble expects from designers is to sell their original work. If you want to get there, but you don’t have the necessary skills, you can consider hiring a professional to get the job done. To let you sell, Gear Bubble will require a flat fee per product. The fee is included in the base price they’ve set for your design. Other than that, you won’t have to pay any other fee or margin percentage. If you want to earn more, you can consider designing prints for sweatshirts, phone cases, mugs, or hoodies. Payments are released per deal, usually in a period of 14 business days. PrintMojoPrintMojo doesn’t limit your creativity. Instead, it inspires you to bring in embroidered images and screen-printed designs for all sorts of products. You can order these products from them (on a wholesale price), as long as you order 25 pieces at a time. Payments are sent monthly, including the amount you paid to order pieces for designing. Still, PrintMojo will for sure deduct a fixed fulfillment fee for each order, just to cover the expenses of packing and delivering your products. Logo SportswearLogo Sportswear functions like any other T-shirt vending platform, but focuses primarily on sportswear and jerseys. Their website offers over 13,000 designs to choose from, and also gives you the option to design something of your own. Your commission rate will equal 15%. The company assumes full responsibility of how your customers are billed, and how your products are delivered to them. Other than that, the platform is absolutely free to use. Blue CottonHere’s another campaigning platform where you actually can’t run an online store. Despite of it, Blue Cotton makes itself responsible for shipping and distributing products, and does it without any additional charges. How to use it? Design a great T-Shirt, choose a price for it, write a description, and think of how much you want to sell. Share the branded page on as many social channels as possible (social media, websites, blogs, emails, and so on), and reap your profits on your PayPal account. CustomCatCustomCat is a very professional marketplace, and you will see that as soon as you join them. They promote selling and on-demand products, and they assist you with creative ideas when you’re stuck. The design of your store is none of their business – they only produce and ship what you’ve got to sale, and let you earn what you want to earn. End customers are also very satisfied, as they receive their orders in less than a week. Thanks to their flexible API, you can choose the prices you want, and sell on many different marketplaces at once. Together with T-shirts, you can apply your designs on jackets, bags, polo shirts, and more, which widens the audience you’re selling too. The distinctive advantage of CustomCat is that its prices cannot be defeated. There is even a 14-days trial you can use to check the effectiveness of their work. Yet, if you want to use their app, it will cost you 30 bucks each month. How much can you earn? Shirts on CustomCat are priced $13.99, shipping costs included. If your print item costs somewhere between $25 and $30, the profit per shirt will be incredible $11 to $16 per piece! Plus, the platform awards you a net profit of $80 after every 10th shirt you’ve sold. Isn’t that just incredible? SellMyTeesSellyTees is best known for understanding designers and their needs. Their ‘Design Studio’ tool is just awesome, and it can safely replace conventional graphic software at no cost. Creating your designs on SellMyTees is free. When it comes to selling, you can either pick the starter Bronze package (free), or update to Silver ($19 per month) or Gold ($79per month), depending on the number of products you intend to sell. The profits will depend on the price of your design. Ending thoughts on where to sell T-Shirts onlineWe sincerely hope that our guide on How to sell T-Shirts online helped you shape up your project. TroveEarly Uber employee Michael Pao came up with the idea for Trove with co-founder Jon Perlow somewhere on highway 101. They were driving from Menlo Park to San Francisco and noticed the massive number of self-storage facilities on the way into the city. They realized that, of course, the facilities were there because people like being close to their stuff, and Trove was born. Why is San Francisco so profitable for local startups? Some San Francisco startups that have seen stellar returns include Uber, Airbnb, Lyft, Dropbox, and Twitter. A diverse number of tech startups in San Francisco have made their mark and many more are starting to. There’s almost a formula to startup success in San Francisco. This formula is not enough in itself—startup teams need to have a lot of drive, talent, connections, and timing. But it is a substantial help and much better than relying on luck. Here are key points to having a successful startup in San Francisco: Losing money is not a bug. It’s a feature. To start with, keep losing money until you have left your competition well behind. This rule is the glue that holds the San Francisco startup success stories together. While many other startup companies in other locations have thrived and succeeded by following this rule, too, it can be argued very well that San Francisco startup teams do it better than the rest. Many of the most valuable tech and internet companies in San Francisco lose lots and lots of money or post tiny profits relative to valuations. Uber for instance reportedly lost $4.5 billion last year, while Dropbox lost more than $100 million after losing more than $200 million the year before and more than $300 million the year before that. It took Airbnb nine years to post its first annual profit. Salesforce has posted losses for most of its history, while Square has never been profitable on a GAAP basis. DocuSign lost more than $50 million in its last fiscal year and more than $100 million in each of the two years before that. As you can see, losing money does not mean you won’t find success. Knowing the success of these companies, you might even think that more fiscally restrained are missing out. Seed StallsSeed funds are important. Entrepreneurs need cash to stall out (along with a deep local talent pool). Both are found in plenty in the San Francisco area, which is why many startup founders there are willing to deal with the high costs of living and working in the Bay Area. Seed funds are not indicative, however. Last year, 157 San Francisco startups have reported raising a seed or angel round, collectively bringing in around $200 million. This does not seem like much, but it’s worth noting that initial figures may be misleading. After several months or quarters, it’s not uncommon to totals 50 percent higher. Still, it’s clear that the city’s startup scene is no longer in its old high growth state. Some of the big companies in the area are taking a lot of the tech talent and the city is quite an expensive place to live. All About The EcosystemSan Francisco is chocked full of tech companies at all stages of their development. There are so far more than 1,400 companies in the city that have $10 million or more in venture funding. There is an amazing startup ecosystem that’s hard to find anywhere else. The support system and potential found within San Francisco is one of a kind. While many startup founders may feel they can’t afford to live in San Francisco, they also often feel they can’t afford to lie anywhere else. Ending thoughts on these startups in San FranciscoThere are many opportunities for tech startups in San Francisco. The city has a unique and competitive environment that can be challenging, but it’s hard to find anything like it in the world. The post World Map Poster Examples For Passionate Travelers appeared first on Design your way. from https://www.designyourway.net/blog/graphic-design/world-map-poster/ A brick wall background has a lot of versatility. They often are used as bases or are used to draw a contrast to the elements in the foreground. You can use them for any number of events and themes, from representations of wall graffiti, art event flyers or websites, or even just for event announcements. A pre-made brick background is an incredibly useful thing to have around and will see a lot of use in many different projects. There are various brick texture background available online, which frees up time for a designer to deal with major issues in the design. No matter what kind of project you’re working on, keeping a high-quality brick texture on hand is a good idea. A quick web search will reveal that there are a ton of brick wall backgrounds on the web and a lot of them have a very high quality. Many of them are photos, while others have been generated via design software. A good place to look for a good brick wall background is on free stock photo websites. The brick textures found on these websites are often photographed, sized, and otherwise touched up specifically to be used as textures or brick wall backgrounds for any number of projects. They are also generally very good for any architectural projects you have. You can find a diverse array of brick textures at these sites, ranging from sandstone walls to red brick walls. The textures in these galleries may have other figures attached to the brick wall background, like ivy, pipes, graffiti, or patterns. While these pre-made brick wall backgrounds may do the trick, they also might be just too generic for your needs. It is actually surprisingly easy to make your brick background in Adobe Illustrator (or a similar program). Using the technique described below, you can make your own custom brick background that will fit perfectly with your project! How to Make a Seamless Brick Background using Adobe IllustratorBy following along with the steps in this tutorial, you can create a seamless brick background by using the Pattern Editing feature in Adobe Illustrator. Pattern Editing is available in Adobe Illustrator CS6 and above. We are also going to sue some manual techniques as well to help create a more realistic effect. Resources You Will Need
Step 1 Step 2 Use the Rectangle Tool (M) and click on the artboard. Enter the width and the height of the rectangle; for the purposes of this tutorial, it will be 150x100px. Fill the object with dark-orange (R = 179; G = 89; B = 36) Step 3 Keep the rectangle selected. Go to the Effect > Distort & Transform > Transform to set the value of the horizontal shift and the number of copies, then click OK. Repeat this effect, but with different values. Go to the Effect > Distort & Transform > Transform, set the value of the horizontal and vertical shift, the number of copies, and select the Reflect X option. Step 4 So that you can work with each rectangle, go to the Object > Expand Appearance. Recolor some of the bricks in the brick background a darker shade of the main color and recolor others a lighter shadows of the main color. To switch around the shades of the main color quickly, switch to the HSB color mode in the Color panel. Adjust colors by moving the Saturation and the Brightness sliders back and forth as needed. Step 5 Select all the bricks. Go to the Effect > Stylize > Round Corners and set the corner to a 5px radius. Then go to the Object > Expand Appearance. Delete the lower row of the bricks. It isn’t needed for seamless brick background creation. Step 6 Select all the created objects. Go to the Object > Pattern > Make,. This will switch to the Pattern Editing mode. Set new values for the width and height of a tile; for this tutorial, it will be 775x440px. This removes extra space and arranges the bricks of our seamless background int the right way. Step 7 Create a rectangle with dark-brown fill. Place it underneath all the bricks, by going to the Object > Arrange > Send to Back or use the Command/Ctrl + Shift +] shortcut. Change the size of the rectangle so it fills the gaps between the bricks. Step 8 Add some details to help the brick wall background look more realistic. Reduce the height and the width of some of the bricks. Do so by selecting points on one side of the brick with the Direct Selection Tool (A), then move them with the arrow keys. The edges of some bricks might look uneven. To change the form of a brick, use the Pencil Tool (N). Step 9 In the big cracks, add some brick fragments with the Pencil Tool (N). This makes it look as if some bricks are pressed into the wall harder than others, which is more natural. It will make it look like there some shadow from the upper row on these bricks. Draw the form of these shadows using the Pencil Tool (N). The color of the shadow should be darker than the color of the brick. Remove the part of the shadow that extends the brick’s borders. Step 10 Copy the brick, then paste it to the front (Command/Ctrl + C; Command/Ctrl + F). Select the shadow and the upper form of the brick, then select the Intersect icon in the Pathfinder panel. Use this technique create some shadows on other bricks. Step 11 Make some highlights on a few bricks. This is similar to shadow creation. The difference is that the color of the highlight should be lighter than the brick’s color. Step 12 Usually, bricks have a rough surface, which can be illustrated by a vector texture. Use the bitmap image from Hi-Res Concrete Texture Pack by Lilshadow. Create a new document, then paste one of the textures to it (File > Place). Open the Live Trace panel (Window > Live Trace panel), select Black and White model, and reduce the Threshold value. Select the Ignore White option. Click on the Expand button in the Control panel. Step 13 With the Lasso Tool (Q) select the part of the vector texture that looks best. Copy these vector objects, then paste them into the document with the brick wall background. In order to create a dark texture, fill the objects with gray and then set the Multiply blending mode in the Transparency panel. Adjust the intensity of texture by changing gray in the Color panel or by reducing Opacity in the Transparency panel. Step 14 To create a light texture, apply the Soft Light blending mode to the objects of the concrete texture. Step 15 Save the seamless brick background in the Swatches panel and click on ‘Done’ in the upper part of our working space. Ending thoughts on using a brick wall backgroundBy following these steps, you now have your own custom brick background. Once you master this process, you can modify a brick texture into any color or dimensions that you need. The post Brick wall background textures that you can use in your designs appeared first on Design your way. from https://www.designyourway.net/blog/textures/brick-wall-background-textures/ The phrase ‘looks aren’t everything’ almost certainly does not apply to new products that you want to introduce to the market. After all, there is no doubt; the more attractive the candy boxes and wraps are, the more people will be interested in trying it out. And although it might be a struggle to keep up with and stand out amongst the latest trends in candy packaging, this step is crucial to create an interesting product your customers will love. So you might be wondering, is it really that important for me to create innovative packaging? The truth is, you do. The reasoning for this is simple – imagine yourself standing in an aisle in your local grocery store, staring at the hundreds of different candies, each with their own candy packaging. That is what most of your customers will see when they encounter your product, which is why you need to make it stand out. Candy Packaging trendsBefore you can be innovative, you need to understand what the trends in packaging design are – with this as background knowledge, you can apply your twists to your product in order to truly make it your own. Convenience PackagingPut simply, these are the kind of candy boxes and supplies that are convenient to open, use, and discard of. The data, as claimed by other candy brands is consistent: your customers won’t just love candy packaging that is convenient – they may go out of the way and actually pay more for it. You might have seen this elsewhere when it comes to packaging – the use of clear plastic bags for candy is an obvious choice, and it is clearly one that appeals to the customers as well. These plastic pouches are just so easy to eat from because of their ability to be resealed. Sustainable PackagingIf you are the kind of person who worries about how many of the materials used in packaging are harming the environment, particularly plastic candy boxes and bags, you may want to start by investing in smaller changes in your business to reduce your impact on the environment. Instead of getting rid of plastic altogether, you can use alternatives for candy boxes that reduce your emissions, such as pouches, or PET bottles. Both of these help reduce the potential effect on the environment, and are therefore considered to be sustainable and greener packaging. This is a huge trend because many customers are asking for greener alternatives, and for a reduction in the use of harmful candy packaging that negatively impacts the environment. Packaging that stands outGo back to that image of your product in aisle at a shopping market. There are many thing you can do to make it stand out and not blend into the other candies. For example, you could use an iridescent or holographic material to catch your customers’ eye, or go for the opposite route and incorporate minimalism into your design, using bold design and incorporating lines and flat imagery. Either way, the point is to appear different from the rest in your design style. Portable PackagingIn the year 2018, it seems like we are one of the most mobilised generations of all time. With people constantly on the go, there is no doubt that everyone wants candy packaging that is small and easy to carry around in their pockets or bag. Bulk PackagingAs much as you would like to carry around a solitary piece of candy, you will almost definitely want large, bulk candy boxes when you’re getting your groceries. For the people buying your product, the ability to re-seal and store is important, because they want the candy to last for a longer period of time. What kind of Packaging works for candies? Now that we’ve covered the basic trends of candy packaging, it is also important to know what the different kind of packaging products are. Generally, their purpose is to be attractive, easy to open, and if the candy requires it, have the potential to be re-sealable. The kind of packaging depends on the product itself, but some of the common candy packaging supplies are:
Small and bite-sized candies can be packaged in plastic or cardboard boxes, such as the chocolate box packaging used by Cadbury, to prevent damage as they are moved. Generally, when it comes to packaging for chocolates, most companies opt for the use of foil along with packaging to maintain its shape and quality. In some cases, cardboard may also be used. If worried about the kind of damages that can happen to your product while it is being shipped, you might consider the use of dividers and bubble-wrap inside your cardboard candy boxes to protect your product even further. However, once your product is out of transit and ready to be shown to a customer in the nearest supermarket, there will rarely be any packaging seen. The products may be kept in clear plastic bags for candy, but this will simply be to maintain the quality as they are presented to the customer and give them a fresh outlook. What do consumers look for in candy packaging? It cannot be denied that consumers care deeply about packaging – but it is not just the visual aspect of things that impacts their decisions to buy products. In recent times, a rising concern amongst consumers is the impact of candy packaging on the environment. A common mistake that some companies make is using unnecessarily large packaging. While it may create the impression of more product, the empty candy box can actually hurt you in two ways: firstly, the consumer will be disappointed with less product than they thought they were buying, and secondly, the environmental impact of the box will be significantly higher than it needed to be. In the modern world, consumers want to be impacted by the packaging, but still want to know that it is green and sustainable. The modern consumer is not looking for over the top and extravagant packaging. Using alternatives for plastics, recycling, and using less where you can will generally garner a positive response from customers. Because of this emerging interest, the market for candy packaging supplies is changing too – one example is a can derived from a coating of whey. This is used instead of plastic, is biodegradable, and may even, in some cases, extend shelf life, making it an interesting option for eco-friendly start-ups wanting to create a name for themselves. Creating gift candy packagingCandies can make for some great gifts, from something small like a box of your friend’s favourite candies to cheer them up, all the way to premium chocolate gifts for a birthday. When it comes to creating gift boxes for candy, the packaging’s role changes slightly. Now instead of just protecting the candy and attracting the attention of the customer, the packaging has an additional role to look ‘gift-like’. This means that it should have a certain premium feel to it, and the consumer should feel like it is a suitable gift. One way of reinforcing the idea of gifting is using ribbons and ‘wrapping’ paper, to create small gift boxes for candy. Another way to go could be to give it a more premium and luxurious look, which makes it look more valuable and suitable to be given as a gift. Remember, with the right kind of packaging, you can get consumers to pay even more for your candy. In a survey done using consumers from Germany, it was discovered that around half (45%) of the people asked were looking for a decorative element, such as a ribbon, on the candy packaging. This was important because they did not have to package it themselves. Different situation, different packagingIt is clear that how you package your product is affected by the way that it will be shown to the consumer, and how it will be used. Fresh items and confectionary may work well with clear plastic bags for candy, but with premium chocolates, you will need luxurious and eye-catching packaging. However, transport is a big element of your candy packaging, and if it can’t store the product without damage, it cannot be effective. You should take into consideration the kind of conditions it will be subjected to, such as:
Tips for competition with your candy packagingProper pricingThe whole industry when it comes to packaging is driven by price. This doesn’t impact the larger giants in the way that it affects startups, because they can make up the money from other avenues. For small-scale companies, this can cause huge losses. If there is news of a cheaper supplier, the customers will move towards that supplier, which is why your pricing needs to respond to the market, and fast. Use all the tools at your disposal to keep in touch with your customers – if you feel a customer isn’t purchasing as much candy boxes wholesale, you need to be tipped off right away, and get to the bottom of what made them change their mind. If the cause is the price, as it often is, you will need to adjust your offer to them. Stand out from the competitionWhile the products you offer may not be very different from your competitor’s, you can get an edge over them by using ways to stand out, and not just based on your price. As mentioned before, a modern consumer cares about eco-friendly and green products, and worry about how the packaging industry is impacting the environment currently and how it will continue to do so in the future. This can be used to your advantage. A survey by Nielsen stated that more than half (66%) of customers around the globe would be absolutely willing to pay more for products – provided they are created sustainably. You could use recyclable candy packaging, health-conscious or hypoallergenic packaging, and just overall reduce your carbon footprint. Provided you deliver on your promises, your customers will willingly pay more to reduce yours, and subsequently, their carbon footprint. With just small changes like the ones mentioned above, you can make yourself stand out amongst the crowd and let consumers know you are creating a difference in the marketplace. This helps inspire loyalty and is better for everyone in the long run. Encourage loyalty to your brandHere’s one of the biggest and most important lessons about working in almost any industry – no matter what, if you have a loyal customer, you need to keep them happy and not allow competitors to take them away. Money is important to run a company, no doubt, but loyal customers need to be offered more, or they’ll simply find someone else to handle their candy packaging. There are certain things that you can offer to the customers that have stuck with your through thick and thin, such as adding a personal touch to your business dealings with them. Instead of just being a candy packaging supplies business, you need to make them feel like you are partners, by checking in, and offering help if needed. Know your opportunities as they comeWhen it comes to business, no one is going to make amazing offers to you and offer them to you on a platter. However, every now and then, opportunities do knock on your door, and you need to know how to make the best of them. You can grow your boxes and wraps business, for example, to a boxes, wraps, and tapes business. Chances are, the customer will just grab your tape instead of going elsewhere. Product pairing is another tactic that can help you stand out and make opportunities in this industry. A bulk deal of two of your products that are closely related and make sense working with each other will appeal to anyone who both, and it will also help them save some money. This encourages sales towards both of your products. Know your audienceWith a deep and structured understanding of who exactly you are selling to, you can make better designs for boxes and wraps, based on what would appeal to them, what they need, and how to communicate with them in the best possible ways. You can use customer relationship management software, called CRM software, to learn more about what your relationship with your customer is like. It can help you track their preferences, habits, and even detailed information on their potential budgets regarding candy boxes. Software like this can help you be aware of any issues, and catch problems right in the beginning. This helps you eliminate problems and takes away the risk of a competitor swooping in and taking away some of your business. Be proactiveObviously, as part of your business practice, reactivity will be a part of things. If the overall sales for your candy packaging fall, you will need to react appropriately. However, in the same way, you also need to be proactive in your approach. Being proactive means using all of the tools that are available at your disposal, and technology is one big tool that we are only just starting to use in the context of the packaging industry. Using technology to predict and analyze information can help you make huge connections between what you are going to sell, and who you need to sell to, and how you end up selling it in the last step. The industry is changing constantly – with an increased demand on candy packaging supplies, but still an increase in the number of suppliers, there is a need to create a secure place for yourself in the market. There is a shift of thinking happening, from a focus on money, to a focus on customer relations, and technology is playing its part in making sure that this happens. By understanding and analyzing the customer’s needs, you can make better products and a better overall customer experience to win and retain customers like no one else in the industry. Shipping candy – what does it entail? When it comes to shipping, different kinds of products will need different kinds of candy packaging supplies. If your candy can easily get damaged in the wrong conditions, it may need to be shipped using candy shipping boxes or containers to keep them fresh and safe. On the other hand, hard candy can probably last for a longer period of time, and won’t be as fragile, and so may need nothing more than usual for candy packaging. Soft candy shipping:According to the FDA, perishables, like chocolate which can melt in the heat, should always arrive cold. It even suggested a packaging method to maintain them – there needs to be a cold source (dry ice will do) in one large box, which needs to be insulated. The candies are placed in another box, and then placed in the insulated box mentioned before. The container with the candy shipping boxes should then be sealed, and covered with a plastic bag (according to FDA regulations), and then sent to where it needs to be transported. Shipping considerationsIf your customer has a fragile product, they may be looking for candy packaging alternatives. Some of these can be overnight shopping or no allowing shipping that lasts more than a day. You can take orders through the week, but not on Saturday or Sunday to avoid damage to it. Ending thoughts on candy packaging designA good design when it comes to packaging, is about visuals, safety, and stage. This will protect your product from damage during transfer, and will keep it safe during the inevitable storage period of its life. With the right candy packaging, you customer can identify you immediately, and pick you out from a sea of competitors.
